What is Ortho K?
Orthokeratology is a specialized contact lens that gently reshapes the front surface of the eye (cornea) as you sleep. This procedure eliminates the need for glasses or daytime contact lenses. Orthokeratology has been compared to a “retainer” that is used regularly at night to keep the eye in the correct position when taken off
Most patients see great improvement in vision the first day after beginning treatment! Regular follow ups during the initial fitting is necessary to ensure correct fit!
We recommend wearing your lenses for a minimum of 8-10 hours every night for the best results. If you sleep in the lenses for less time, you may not get as much corneal shape change and the vision clarity may fade throughout the day. Don’t worry though; resuming normal wear time will easily restore your vision and the treatment effect.

“Abram now has 20/20 vision! He was extremely nearsighted and his eye doctor was concerned at the progression of his worsening prescription for his young age. She referred him to Dr. Sorrentino’s office where Dr. Carey introduced us to Orthokeratology. Abram now wears contacts overnight that helps correct his vision, therefore no longer needing his glasses! If you are local to WNY, contact their office for an appointment ASAP. This technology has been such a blessing for our family.”
